Biscuiteers Boutique

"Why send flowers when you can send biscuits"

I have seen the Biscuiteers store floating around Instagram for a while, and I've been wanting to check it out. But with my current timetable, I haven't had time to myself to enjoy days out. As fate would have it, I accidently came across the store one day, and I was surprised to see that is was so close to home. I was determined to go, even if it was just for a quick pop in, and I'm not ashamed to tell you that idea went straight out of my head as soon as I entered the store. I just couldn't help myself!  The store is so whimsical and has such gorgeous decorations. I walked right in.
"Hi," I said. "Can I take photos of the store?" I am sure that you can guess that this was not going to be a quick pop in.

Mubarak London & Sisters in Aid

The last thing you expect at a charity event is, well, to be gifted as soon as you enter.  Picture this: you attend with charitable intentions, ready to hand out as much money as you can. But as soon as you enter, you're thanked straight away with a delightful gift.
Mubarak London collaborated with the Sisters in Aid team so that the first 50 sisters through the door were given a freebie. The gifts were so thoughtful, and a great way to be introduced to the company's products. The Sisters in Aid team really did know how to spoil us! Also included were gorgeous party favours for each attendant waiting for them at the table. The party favours were made by Pritilittlethings and Elenair gifts.

Beauty and the Feast + Sisters in Aid

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”
Narrated by al-Bukhari, 5073; Muslim, 993.

Giving in charity is not something that sisters take very lightly. When we put it into our mind, we go all out and try to raise as much as we can. Beauty and the Feast was no exception. And how truly beautiful is that?

Style: Number 14

My love for pockets is never ending, and now I will add a mandarin collar to that love. How fancy are these details on an abaya? Very. But even better when they have a purpose. Designing this abaya my sister and I wanted to the abaya to be functional  as well as stylish.

The Prive Experience Goodie bag

Who doesn't love a freebie? Nobody that's who! I love me some freebie goodies, and that's what I received when I attended The Prive Experience, Horse riding lesson and afternoon tea. I didn't expect to get one, so it was a lovely surprise. All of the companies promoted in the goodie bag I have never heard of, but I am glad to have been introduced to them. They are pretty awesome.

The Prive Experinece + Horse riding a forgotten Sunnah?

I never thought I'd ever be able to ride a horse in London. Why? Simply because I didn't think it would be possible in a modest way. I know, I know - I am thinking like an abaya wearer and limiting myself. But it is the truth. How can I ride a horse and dress and be, well, modest? Wouldn't it be strange as an abaya wearing Muslimah to rock up to the stables? Wouldn't I be looked down upon? And God forbid the instructor is of the male species. Even though horse riding is a sunnah and something I desperately wanted to learn, I let it slide out of my thoughts, and stayed in my city girl lane, which is basically "I don't need to learn, as I probably won't ever need to ride a horse in the city."
Well, that is until I found The Prive Experience.

Reading No.1

Currently re-reading an old book that I own and read before. My sister uses it to decorate her shelves at her apartment, as you can see my lovely nephew has gotten his pretty little hands on it and given the book a big scar on the outer bookbinding. It gives the book a nice pre-loved feel. I have read the book before and wanted to use it as a light read. Once I spotted it on my sister's shelf I picked it up and was like right I am taking you home.

Dreaming about pajamas

Who doesn't love a great pajama set?  Winter is well on its way, which means the perfect excuse to wear snug pajamas indoors most of the day. Not to mention that they are very in style this year not just for wearing at home, but also going out.  I really need to throw away my odd mismatched pj's and replace them with a cute set that will make me feel extra pretty. I have decided to sew my own PJs this time.

Meal planning & why it's a must

Who else loves planning their meals. It is the new thing I have started, and I currently love it. It's easy and gives me one less thing to worry about, especially when I am busy. I enjoy eating a tasty meal. So planning ahead gives me no excuses to eat boring food. Interested? Let me start from the beginning, when did I start?

Tie knotted abaya

The knotted dress + abaya look is currently so on trend, everywhere I look I seem to see it, well mainly on Pinterest and Instagram. But it is enough to make me want one.

Tumblr tuesday: The dressing up box

The dressing up box is my second Tumblr blog. Also, my favourite, as it is the one I regularly update. The intention of this Tumblr was to add some Islamic motivational posts as well as the usual stylish outfits and travel posts. It was important for me to have the Islamic element to this blog as I was going to spend a lot of my free time on it. I wanted it to be a space that I will feel inspired, not just in terms of material stuff, but also spiritually as well. I use my Tumblr blog as an online mood board, yet I also find myself on it when I am bored to occupy my free time. So it is important to me to learn something instead of just wasting hours. I have found some awesome Islamic and motivational Tumblr blogs that I follow that help me learn new things and others that have the perfect balance of stylish and travel plus deen.

Sister love: Noorah gifts

Whoa, I am already at my second sister love post, well what can I say there are some awesome sisters out there, doing some awesome jobs that I love to share. This time, I have selected Noorah gifts, a gift company that makes personalised gifts. The gifts vary from house items to custom makeup bags. They all have one thing in common, every item is very stylish, and would make a perfect gift.

Diy off the shoulder shirt

I have been crushing on these off the shoulder shirts & dresses that are in style this year. The look is so feminine. As I had the shirt at home, I thought why not make one for myself, and teach you guys how to make one as well. I love the preppy look of this Gap shirt and wanted to give it a girly edge, the elastic off the shoulder does exactly that.

Sister love: why I am in love with this daily planner

I am now going to convince you why you have to download this free, yes I said free daily planner. Because it is absolutely fabulous. It has now become my favourite way of planning my day, it is easier as I jot everything down in the morning. Growing even more beloved to me than my bullet journal.
Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates

Travel diaries: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

How to make the most of the visit to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque without spending your whole day there, even though you will want to.

Grand is the easiest word to use to describe this mosque, but it is far from being just grand. There is something about the atmosphere that takes hold of you as soon as you drive close to the mosque. The famous white domes loom above taking up the skyline, it is hard not to be in awe. The white tiles with the gold contrast is a beautiful example of modern Islamic architecture. And the attention to detail throughout the mosque is outstanding. I would find my self-staring at patterns thinking that is the clever way to fill up  space.

Free Eid cards

Eid ul Adha 2016 is just around the corner, Yay. Have you got everything ready? Well, actually that is a silly question of course you do. With both Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha so close together it is easy to re use some of the same decorations. When I am planning an event or party, there is always something I seem to forget, and this time, it is Eid cards. If you are like me, don't worry my sister has us sorted, you can download and print out these free Eid cards from her blog.

Style: Ithnan no. 2

Ithnan is the quite one in our abayas. The soft subtle one, with the neutral hand sewn navy blue applique lace. But for some reason it always grabs our clients attention when worn. Time and time again it never fails to get ohhh and ahhh when we have fittings, everyone loves it.

Tumblr Tuesday

Tumblr Tuesday. What is tumblr tuesday? You may ask. I choose pictures that I am currently loving from my tumblr, and post it onto my blog, so that I can inspire you guys. If you like what you see hopefully it will motivate you to check out my tumblr.

5 tips to eat cheap while traveling

How can eat cheap whilst traveling? Most of you probably know that whilst traveling food consumes most the time {busy looking for places to eat} and money as you want to try out different foods and end up spending lots on money on snacks and main meals. I've have compiled neat tricks to save money on spending too much on food.

Like..I am really busy + ramblings

Have you ever had those weeks where you are so busy, that you can't even think properly & your thoughts are jumbled? Having a notebook to jot down ideas is ideal in that situation. I found a cute notebook to sum up those kind of weeks. Scribbling down feeling, notes, ideas & quick thoughts that I don't want to forget. The cover of the book is pastel pink, gold embossed lettering, very chic so my style I couldn't resist.

Why you need to own a Recipe journal

“No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.”
― Laurie Colwin
I remember when I was in collage a friend of mine told me about her family recipe book. It was an old book that her grandmother had written for them, with instructions and recipes for her daughters, which was then passed down to each generation. My friend told me of how much they loved the book, they would take special care of it, each generation would write down their own recipes. I was inspired.

Did someone say Eid party?

How was you Eid?  Mine? Amazing, I never get tired of celebrating Eid, it brings out the child in me. Remember my previous post about Eid decorations. Well I am sure you want to know how I decorated for Eid.

Freebie Eid decorations inspiration

Wow, Subhan'Allah Ramadan year 1437/2016  is nearly over. You know what that means EID yay.
Even  though I love Ramadan, and I can't wait for it every year. Eid excites me just as much and I get giddy like a little child. Maybe it's the all the sweet food I consume on the day. Or it could be because of the celebration of being able to complete Ramadan and In Sha Allah carry on my days with the fresh new outlook on life that I acquired during the holy month. Whatever it is, I like to celebrate with style.
Atlas Mountains, Morocco

Travel Diaries: Atlas mountains & Ourika valley

Atlas mountain & Ourika Valley day trip
The final installment of Marrakech trip.
We booked before we left London. it was one of our first and one of the main activities we did whilst in Marrakech. it was also one of our favourite. The trip had everything both my brother and I like. The sight seeing and eating was for me, and the active parts for my brother.

home office every girl boss needs

Working from home, sounds more tedious than it actually is. It is quite fun, {you can do whatever you want when you want, since you are the boss}. Okay now it sounds like I a selling idea of working from home to you, I'm not. Well maybe you will be sold after you get inspired with these home offices.

The gift of stars

The Prophet {sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam} used to accept gifts and used to give something in return.” [Sahih Bukhari]
Giving gifts is something that I love to do. And I was bought up being taught that giving gifts increases love and affection amongst people, as well as being a Sunnah. {A very nice one may I add, especially if your are in the receiving end.}
Giving a gift does not have to be about spending a lot of money, or buying materialistic items. It should be about bringing your loved one joy, every time they look at the gift they are reminded of you.

Lavender home

I found a cute little Japanese Stationary shop in Nothing Hill. Which was a coincidence as I was looking for distinct wrapping paper, when walking past the shop. To say that the shop is Kawaii is a understatement. It was much more than just cute.

Style: When the suns out, wear pleats

Pleated abaya
The weather in London is finally looking sunny, so you know what that means. Open abayas Yay.

How to design an abaya

Quick simple easy tips on how to design an abaya
A question that never gets old. But the answer is very simple. As an abaya designer, I would say that I have designed quite a few abayas, and designed with clients as well as made clients dream abayas come to life. Here is a list I have complied to help you design your abaya. It will make the design process easier and effortless.

Thank you

At Barakah London, we always like to say a nice big fat thank you to all our clients. We designed a simple thank you card, which we think is an excellent way to express ourselves.

Laduree & Macaroons

I had a much needed catch up with a friend of mine, and we decided to use the occasion to try out the macaroons at Laduree in Harrods. The setting of the tea room was so cute, with soft pastel shades and crystal chandeliers. We ordered a selection of macaroons to try, and who can resist hot chocolate with cream. The macaroons were sweet and tasty my favourite was the strawberry pink with marshmallow filling. It was also the first macaroon I tasted.
I was very surprised to find macaroons are filling, after a eating a few I was already full. My friend and I ordered ten to share as we wanted to try out as much as the flavours as we could, but we ended up taking some home, because we couldn't finish the macaroons.

Camel riding + a baby camel

"The baby camel and I were the same height"
Camel riding was one of my favourite activities in Marrakech; it was also one of the activities I booked whilst still in London. I found a website through Trip Adviser {addicted to that website}. The reviews were fantastic and the price even better. The website was Viator {link is at the end of the page}. Best part, they had other activities too, so I also booked quad bike rides, and decided that I will book other activities once I got to Marrakech, which I unfortunately didn't get to do as our days were very packed.

DIY Pom Pom

Who doesn't love pom poms? They are so cute, and bring out the happy side in everyone. I sure do love them, and I'm planning to make a pom pom cushion cover. But before that I have to make the pom poms. Here is a super easy pom pom tutorial made from knitting yarn. These pom poms can be used for anything from curtain trimmings, to hats, to cute little key chains.
Essaouira, Morocco

Travel Diaries: A day in Essaouira

Marrakech is the city of clay colours. With dark red & orange buildings, where else Essaouira is the city of light washed with white & blue buildings. This beach city is bright compared to the darker hues of Marrakech. It was a quick day trip, but enough for me to fall in love. Spent most of the day walking & eating opposite the beach, which much needed as a day off from my busy Marrakech holiday.

DIY Niqab

The niqab is a garment most of us sisters wear. Even though I don't wear a niqab, I have for years collected a selection of niqabs that I have worn when time permits it.
For those of you who are, or want to start wearing one. I have come up with a simple DIY niqab.
With only ten steps, anyone can do it. You won't  need to buy fabric it is that simple.
v&a museum london

Gold & Mirrors in the V&A

take great pleasure in looking at interior and architecture. I believe interior, architecture and fashion all go hand in hand. If you love one, the rest all find a place in your heart one way or another. And they balance each other out. A hobby of mine to visit museums, and who can resist the V&A museum in London. It's close to Knightsbridge, so once finished I can pop into Chapati & Karak then some retail therapy in Harrods.

Dreaming about books & their covers

Judging a book by its cover is not good, right? But sometimes I can't help it and I buy a book solely on its cover. Most of the time I don't regret it, I like to think of myself as a lover of arts, and book covers are an art form in it self. Here is my selection of books I can't wait to get my hands on, they are all different from journaling, to cooking, to calligraphy and diy. The best part the contents looks just as good as the outer appearance.

Style: Stars & pockets + Thamanyah

I would love to say that  Thamanyah was designed to celebrate my blog name, stars and all. We designed the abaya with the stars long before I chose the name for my blog. It matches and  I love it, so now this is my new favourite abaya. So lets just pretend that this abaya is in honour of my blog.
Plus it has pockets, what is it us girls and our love for pockets?  When someone complements my outfit, usually I will smile, accept it and then gush about the pockets, like it is super cool to have pockets "look and it has pockets"
Marrakesh 40000, Morocco

Travel Diaries: M is for Marrakech

Marrakech, was on my bucket list of countries to visit for while. So I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do when I  visited *mostly shopping. Mostly shopping is what I did not do, alright so there was shopping here and there but the city had so much to offer.
How can I describe my trip without sounding like I had rose tinted glasses on.
I Loved it

DIY twisted headband

It is rare not to have left over fabric from sewing. And I like to find little projects to use up the fabric, instead of throwing it away. So I made these cute twisted headbands. It was super easy and quick to make. Anyone can wear it from a child to an adult. You will only need a little bit of jersey fabric, so if you don't have any laying at home, you can use an old T-shirt.

Bullet journal & Routines

I live by routines and building good habits, it helps kick my procrastination habits aside as well as focus on what needs to be done. It hasn't been easy after years of not having a proper routine in my life.
I always thought I was living my life the way I see fit, and after my daily Islamic routines, *praying & reading Quran, everything was okay. But after years of procrastination, crying, unfulfilled dreams, anger, boredom, jobs, yearning, not getting enough done, tired all the time. You are getting my point yes? I have finally come to the realisation that what helped me get things done, and kept me on the path that I needed for my personal & work life was routine & building good habits.
Now it is one of the main parts of my life that I work hard to keep.
I need the routine to get things done during the day and keep in consent check with my goals in life.

The New Look & Nars

My favouite March makeup purchases.
Bags, I've always had under eye bags. Sometimes I like to call them designer bags, pure leather, to make myself feel good of course, because no one in their right mind likes under eye bags. I have always struggled with covering them, my list of concealers I have used that have failed to the job is endless. I don't likes to waste money on something that doesn't work. But I must say, I love this Nars radiant creamy concealer.

Travel Diaries: A if for Amsterdam

Hello my darlings,
In Sha Allah this will the be the beginning of many more travel diaries.  I must confess this is not my first time traveling to Amsterdam, it is actually my third. You might be thinking whats makes me keep going back? Mainly family, and how can I resist the city, it is beautiful. The architecture is what really makes me fall in the love with the city. The canal houses, are my favourite, the colours the sizes and the fact that they stand along the canals, its beautiful. Also its the city of the bikes, *nervous laugh,  I like bikes, just not getting hit by one whilst walking on the street. You would expect me have learnt by now, but still makes me nervous every time I return. Even though it is a bike city, I can spend countless hours walking around, its a clean city and that gets a big tick of approval from me.

shorten that abaya, shorten that dress

The first DIY. I wanted to make it simple, easy & something every girl is in need of. Which is to shorten your abaya or dress. Most of us girls have an abaya/dress that is inside our closet, hardly ever worn because its too long. Honestly who wouldn't want to learn a cool simple trick that would save you cash from going to the tailors and allows you to finally be able to fix your own abayas, I do
