Meal planning & why it's a must

Who else loves planning their meals. It is the new thing I have started, and I currently love it. It's easy and gives me one less thing to worry about, especially when I am busy. I enjoy eating a tasty meal. So planning ahead gives me no excuses to eat boring food. Interested? Let me start from the beginning, when did I start?

After my mother went on a Holiday, and all the meal prep & planning and shopping were officially on my shoulders.  Yeah, I have always helped out with cooking, but things become completely different when you are the main person cooking, and everyone in your house has different taste buds and likes tasty food. I found a method that works for me, planning ahead. Yep, I have become a little bit obsessive with planning. Here is how I do it, I work out the days we  have guests, which is a lot of the time when you have a big family. and what days we will be eating alone, this is my family members that live with me. What everyone likes & doesn't like to eat, such as veggies and what not, making sure to please everyone's food tastes. Include the days I have client fittings & lots of sewing, as I won't be much use in the kitchen so cooking time-consuming meals will be a no-no on those days.  And finally trying to budget so having some savings at the end, as well as not wasting food, I hate that!

Then I choose what to cook on what day check if everyone is pleased with the food beforehand, don't want anyone complaining that they will not eat. This is what happens when you are cooking for adults that are picky. And then buy the ingredients needed.

The majority of the time, I will do one main shopping day preferably online, I love home delivery.  Pop into local butchers and get some fresh fruit and veggies from markets while I am at it. I have this thing about seeing my fresh food when buying it.

I found this super cute  leaf print weekly planner,  I use it as my meal planner. It also has a fridge magnet back, so I just leave it on the fridge door, and everyone in the family can view it. Plus we can change it in advance if there are any changes in anyone's timetables. I know it sounds so long and extra, but honestly, it isn't and it has made my life so much easier.
Plus who else likes to munch on some sweet snacks whilst making their meal plans.

  2. I don't usually plan my meals but I did when I went away on a self catering holiday. I had to plan out our meals for the week so that I could make sure I took everything I needed and most importantly didn't forget anything! I must admit, it made life so much easier than trying to think of what to make and then not having all the ingredients. I love how you leave the meal plan on the fridge so everyone can see it, know what they'll be eating and enjoy their meal too.

    2. I've never been on a self catering holiday before and was always sceptical about them but I really enjoyed it. We went to a forest here in the UK and because I had planned all our meals and even prepared some of them I could still enjoy the holiday without feeling like I was cooking all day. I made quick and easy recipes that don't take too long. x

  3. I should start to be more organized too. It's really helpful also to plan when to go to food shopping and it helps to avoid any waste of food!
